The MuCEM boasts an outstanding location at the entrance to the Vieux-Port and an exceptional architectural concept which combined the renovation of one of Marseille’s oldest and most spectacular historical monuments, Fort Saint-Jean, and the construction of a contemporary building, designed by Rudy Ricciotti.

The two buildings cover 30,000 m2 and are home to three large exhibition halls, extensive reception areas, an auditorium, two bookshops, two restaurants, several outdoor areas and a landscaped garden.
